When your babysitter loses their life, what is the impact on your life?
Ok the first thing that jumps out at me is Christina Applegates character "Swell" smokes in front of her mother! Why didn't I question this when I was younger? I know that if I ever gave my mother the attitude that Swell was giving her mother at the beginning of the movie all with a cigarette hanging from my lip......Hmmm I feel old
Anyhoo, back in the day I really liked this movie. My thoughts after rewinding and reviewing?
It's still fun to watch but, for different reasons second time around.
The bad hair and bad fashion are the 2 top reasons. Shoulder pads and fluoro and lyrca...OH MY!!! The unrealistic set up of a single mother being able to afford to leave her 5 children in the care of a babysitter for 3 months to go to Australia reinforced by a more fanciful scenario that a 17 year old can gain an exectutive assistant position anywhere (do they not check references?) by copying a CV out of a 'how to book'. The stand out reason why this is not a reliable reflection of how 5 kids would cope without supervision.....Mom comes home to finda party going on that her house is cleaner than when she left it!
Keep an eye out for: David Duchovny! He plays the slicked back sleaze bag Bruce.
