Stark Raving Mad
December 2nd 2008 10:38
The first time I saw this movie it was making up numbers in a DVD rental deal. The reason I chose it? It has Seann William Scott. The reason I was going to avoid it? It was a straight to DVD movie.
Well Seann William Scott ruled over my snobbery of straight to DVD movies.
This turn of events led me to a great discovery because, this was the only movie of the collection of DVD's that did not leave me wanting to ask for my time back after watching it.
After rewinding and reviewing what are my thoughts?
Its still an excellent caper movie.
There is so much working against the "good guys" that you just get the feeling that they were never meant to succeed. On the upside their misfortune makes for an awesome movie.
Seann William Scotts character holds a rave as a cover for a robbery of a bank vault.
His fellow robbers are an ex roadie who specialises in pyrotechnics, a superstitious guy whose family created the vault and a chick who did not care to be sexually harrassed by her boss at a software firm. All these skills come together to make an interesting robbery crew.
This movie is worth a viewing. Pay attention and things that don't seem right will make sense in the end.
Keep an eye out for: Adam Arkin! he plays the nightclub owner Don.
This movie is full of some interesting dialogue and direct to camera monologues (I for one am not a fan of direct to camera monologues but, it works in this movie) as such there is no single line to quote.
However here is the beginning of my favourite monologue.

You see... lions... eat gazelle. And the gazelles fucking hate that shit.
