The Adventures of Ford Fairlane
November 30th 2008 11:15
I was introduced to this movie by my older brother, he brang home the video (remember VHS?) and made me watch it.
I am still thankful for the influence he has had on my movie viewing.
I laughed my backside off the first time I watched it.
After rewinding and reviewing?
I still laugh..... Crude comedy rocks!
Before Ace Ventura: Pet Detective there was Ford Fairlane: Mr Rock'n'Roll Detective.
First up, the film itself is a little dated (hair, wardrobe and music) but put all that aside and you have a down and dirty comedy.
Andrew Dice Clay was banned from MTV because of his profanity and sexism (and it referenced in the movie) so if you are easily offended be warned this movie is not for you.
As I said this is a dirty comedy, with an abundance of dick jokes and awesome one liners.
It also has a pretty cool cast, Priscilla Presley as a not easily offended rich chick and Ed O'Neill as the 'real' cop who has issues with Ford to name just a few. By the way Robert Englund is also in it as the crazy killer (if you are now asking who is he stop reading now and never read this blog again....you call yourself a movie fan)
As I previously mentioned, if you are at all sensitive then forget this movie. However, if you enjoy crass comedy with some excellent one liners, sit back with a few like-minded friends and a few drinks you will definitely enjoy it.
Keep an eye out for: Willie Garson! for all those Sex and the City fans, he plays an obnoxious frat guy.
There are so many lines in this movie that I love......They are totally out there and probably not suitable for civilised company but, I will give you two that I think sum the movie up.
In terms of the comedy:
In terms of the lead actor character:

In terms of the comedy:
Conversation with Zuzu Petals was like masturbating with a cheese grater: slightly amusing, but mostly painful
In terms of the lead
Some people play hard to get. I play hard to want.

I personally have no real sensitivities so I quite enjoy it on both a comedic level and a "how can he get away with that" level.
