How do you keep a child safe from cops?
Ok when I was a kid I watched this movie and was completely perplexed by the Amish.
What are my thoughts after rewinding and reviewing?
Well, it is a fairly formulaic crime film. But, what makes it interesting is the setting and the contrasts of the child, who is raised in a non violent society, who witnesses a violent crime. That in itself is an interesting concept however, add to it the standard cops gone bad and the fish out of water scenario and it fleshes out to still be a palatable movie.
The whole fish out of water aspect does manage to bring a few laughs and in addition there is a palpable tension between Rachel (Kelly McGillis) and Book (Harrison Ford) that is never fulfilled but, really there is no way that there could have been a satisfactory resolution of that tension.
The moments of mirth actually are the source of some of my favourite lines.
